I have my lids insulated and only one entrance at the bottom of the hive and the insulation keeps the heat off the top box in the summer and in the winter it protects against the outside temp changing the inside temp causing condensation and not venting the top keeps the queens out of my supers and I don’t have to use a queen excluder, I’ve been keeping bees for over 50 years and I used to vent the tops like crazy but when I started thinking of how a bee keeps the brood safe in a tree ,?they only use one entrance down low and the thick wood of the tree acts like insulation and keeps condensation from building up , also I’ve been having better luck with one brood box because in the winter if bees die off and the population dwindles then it’s harder for the bees to control the bigger space of two boxes , it took me a while to get it but if you try it you might just see the difference and how it’s easier for the bees to maintain their temp

A great asset to trimming heavy horse feet is a set of drafthorse sized "Budnippers." Force multiplying hoof nippers that go through the thickest, dryest draft horse horn with ease. Multiplies your force 13 times. Out of Idaho.

I can't imagine what you thought was going to happen dumping 5lbs of wax in there at a time 😂😂😂 These are designed to take small amounts dropped directly in the middle. I will say, I did enjoy watching this video. But this is why companies have to build such long instruction manuals because they can never guess how many ways people will attempt to incorrectly use their machines.

I do it a little different. The end boards I cut a 3/8 × 3/4 out of the top for a frame rest and down the sides for a rabbit joint. I don't use nails I use screws. I don't have a router table I use a table saw. I intend to get a dado blade soon, should make the groove cutting much faster. You do what works for you. I've found I can order unassembled boxes pretty cheap and save myself a lot of time on cutting. The few dollars I save isn't worth the time spent. I also save a ton of money by buying used equipment. I just bought a 16 foot trailer load stacked 3 deeps high for $350. 73 of them were in good shape and ready to use with a little paint. Another 46 need minor repair and paint. About half had frames in them that were in good shape. All the boxes seem to have come from the same manufacturer so the remaining boxes I can take apart and use the good pieces to put together a few more boxes. I only use deeps so I only have to fool with 1 size boxes and frames. I don't buy bees except the occasional queen, I use swarm traps, splits, and do cutouts to get mine. In need to do the cut outs or bee removal to get the extra wax I need plus it generates a little income.

Hi, nice video. I'm considering purchasing the Maxant Junior Spinner. I harvest honey from log hives in the forest, and it arrives at my processing facility as crushed comb. I plan to melt it with a melter capable of handling 500 kilograms in one batch at 49 degrees Celsius. After melting at this temperature, I would obtain 325 kilograms of separated honey and a 175-kilogram honey-wax mixture. I aim to use the Maxant Junior Spinner to separate the honey from the wax. If I proceed, how much time will it take to separate the melted honey-wax mixture of 175 kilograms?

Hey. I just watched your video. Let me tell you how you never have to worry about your stopping for your router rabbit slot. Make your long side 1.5” longer. Make your short ends 1.5” shorter. Now just put your short ends between your long ones. Visa versa of what you were doing before. Easy peasy. Yes I know. Don’t feel stupid. I’m a certified journeyman carpenter from years back.

Good vid- If you cut you ends a little shorter and your sides a little longer, you can attach the ends (inside) the sides and not have to worry about stopping the ledge cuts. Just a thought- I build my own and do this so I can cut the slot all the way across the end board.
